About Dylan "D.R." Johnson

Dylan has developed his passion for writing throughout most of his life. Graduating with a Bachelor's of Arts in Creative Writing in 2018, Dylan went on to write novels as well as screenplays, having his first space opera novel SURVIVAL, DARK TIMES (Sage Hill Publishing) published in 2019 and from 2020-2022, he served as the Co-Head Writer of Hollywood Casting and Film/The Slate, a nationwide casting agency/studio, working on roughly three dozen short film projects, some of which were produced and went on to find achievements in various film festivals. He is a proud member of the Writers Guild of America, West.

No matter the medium, Dylan loves bringing characters to life and detailing every part of their external and internal journeys, featuring the highest of highs and the lowest of lows that people endure.

Dylan finds beauty in all types of stories, but sci-fi has often consumed his imagination. He loves building the suspense and intrigue of far-away worlds, their people, unknown obstacles, and the technology that gives way for discovery, advancement, and action-packed battles. However, what Dylan loves most about sci-fi stories is their potential to show that people are still people. Even in the middle of war-torn space, people still struggle with love, trust, hate, friendships, romance, family, and more. The balance of these themes serve as the inspiration and basis of his writing.

This springs from his own life beliefs. Dylan knows that every single life has worth, purpose, and their own story to tell. He loves getting to know people and listening to their opinions, passions, questions, fears, and more. He strives to follow Jesus Christ, and because of that, he strives to care for people.

As Dylan continues to develop his writing career as both an author and professional screenwriter, he loves to champion other writers, new or experienced, and supporting their causes and skills. He uses this website, his work, social media profiles, and more to connect with readers and writers alike. His goal is to help others in any way he can.
